About

Marion Lorence grew up in Bloomington, Minnesota living a technology free childhood with the exception of the occasional “radio drama” which was reserved for special hours when the family gathered around. TV was not introduced until at age 12 her father, whose interest in all things electronic, could no longer bear to be without the newest gadget which was coming into the homes of many friends and neighbors.

As a kid, she was also eager to grab the mic as her father created recordings on LP’s of the family’s not so great, musical talents. Early records have her singing “Climb Up Sunshine Mountain” while her dad accompanied on guitar.

A career in hair design artistry was her early choice as the artistic abilities inherited by her mother took precedent in her pursuit of femininity.

After graduating from Minneapolis Vocational School, marriage was the next big adventure that brought about the most rewarding relationships of all. Four children and now six grandchildren, all living in the twin city metro area keep the home fires burning.

As a part time Women’s Ministry Associate at Grace Church, Marion had a unique opportunity to become involved in a collaborative effort to reach out to women using the radio and the internet as a tool. Her Place Radio was the project directed by City Sites Urban Media. Managing the web site for this group propelled Marion to the next level of interest in the use of the computer as a superior communication tool.

With time as an empty nester to go after new interests, Marion has rediscovered the fact that she is her fathers’ daughter. Curiosity about the technical details behind web sites became a pathway to a new season of learning. Back in school as a non-traditional student, programming code and web design programs became her new pursuit.

Marion Lorence became the senior property portfolio web developer for Great Lakes Management Company in 2008 about the time Glendale Place was opening in Savage, Minnesota. This focus on rental properties for the 55+ adult populations got her thinking in a real life setting about the needs of her peers.

When the opportunity to become an on-site property manager opened up at Glendale Place in Savage, Minnesota, Marion applied and was hired on to become the leadership face of this distinctive and welcoming apartment home community.

Next, as Great Lakes Management Company expanded their partnership with the Wedum Foundation, Marion moved to Banfill Crossing in Fridley, Minnesota to manage 110 Independent living senior apartments.

Great Lakes Management Company (view them all at this link) offers best choice living arrangements for active senior adults who value their independence all over the twin city metro area.

Writing a blog under the name Minnesota Marion about ideas as well as life experiences that are relevant to a group of “Boomer” peers is Marion’s idea of living a full and interesting retirement.
