My Story

I wrote my own story in 500 words, making sure I did not leave out the failures and mistakes that were also part of the tapestry of my life so far.

No matter how old I feel, I know that I am in the final quarter of the game.  There is a lot of living left, but I think often about what I want to leave behind for the people I love.  The essence of connection to other people is “being known” and I want those I love to know who I am and what I am about.

Obviously, I will leave behind all my stuff and whatever money I have accumulated, but what I really want to leave is the ideas and beliefs that have driven everything along the way.  These are the things that will benefit those I love and help them get their footing again when the circumstances of life send them reeling.

In everyone’s life, there comes a storm that will threaten to derail your entire life trajectory… something that makes you feel like the rug has been pulled out from under you and in a free fall, you find yourself wondering what the future holds.  It is in the crucible of crisis circumstances that the foundations are tested.

I wrote my own story in 500 words, making sure I did not leave out the failures and mistakes that were also part of the tapestry of my life so far.  Following that story, I included the transferable spiritual ideas of my faith and put the whole thing into a booklet that is ready for anyone I meet along the way.  I fact, even though I will never meet most of you who read this blog, I will be glad to send you “My Story” if you leave me your address.

And yes… I did get back on my feet again and now I am able and willing to tell about it.  I love it when that happens!
