Puzzles

Experience tells me that all the puzzle pieces fit somewhere and the finished design will emerge from the scattered pieces if I do not give up and keep looking at the design.

I like puzzles. But why?

First I sort out all the pieces, turning them right side up and at the same time I separate out the ones that have at least one straight edge because I know that they will form the outer parameters of the picture.

But the process continues as I discover pieces with similar shapes or colors. They are sorted, gathered together, organized and viewed with great care in order to find out how they fit together with the other elements of the design.

Experience tells me that all the puzzle pieces fit somewhere and the finished design will emerge from the scattered pieces if I do not give up and keep looking at the original picture.  My task is to put the pieces in place in order to recreate the design that was intended by the puzzle maker.

I like puzzles because they have well defined edges.
I like puzzles because every piece fits perfectly somewhere in the design.
I like puzzles because I can do them a little bit at a time alone or with others.

I like every part of the process and I never get tired of doing puzzles. It’s my version of fun.
