Retrieving my phone, I had to take a picture of the sign bearing my own name… Marion

While having lunch with Savage community business leaders I noticed a sign that informed me that we were meeting in “Marion Hall”. Retrieving my phone, I had to take a picture of the sign bearing my own name… Marion. I know it was really about Marion Savage, the owner of the famous hoarse, “Dan Patch” …. but it’s my name too!

Turns out that other places around here are named after Marion Savage, including this town and a fine elementary school just a few blocks away from my home here at Glendale Place.

As a child, I recall the first time I heard of Lake Marion in Lakeville. Our family drove out there for a picnic at a park where I enjoyed the teeter-totter with my brother… until he jumped off and I went crashing to the ground.

Over the years I have noticed various streets and roadways that bear my name. On my next birthday, when I am thinking of someplace to go for lunch with friends, I am going to find a place on one of those streets to celebrate the name I have enjoyed all these years. In fact, that’s an idea I could use to celebrate anyone’s birthday.

I could Google the name of my grandchild and create and event that could build a fun memory into their next birthday celebration.
