Retirement is not in my plan.  At age 65, I started a whole new career as housing has always been and area of interest.  After communicating on line with with Mary Peterson at The Hamilton in Savage, I came over for a visit to see the property for myself.   I asked Mary to describe in a nutshell, what it was like to manage a big apartment building.  She said, “It’s just like taking care of a very large home.”

We all build a structure of living that works for a time, but unforeseen, sometimes sudden upsets bring those structures down like a house of cards. Fear becomes a reaction that is understandable and can be paralyzing. got a speeding ticket and the fine I have to pay will take a big bite out of my funds.

The message is…… Slow down and live Marion. Save some money in the process!

Spring is early this year and everyone is out and about… including me.  I guess I am not the role model old lady Sunday driver because “slow” is not my speed.  Last Sunday I got a speeding ticket and the fine I have to pay will take a big bite out of my funds.  OUCH!!!!!!!

Her husband and adult son were the type of men that quickly turn anything they like into a business, so these days they are boarding 24 additional hoarse for weekend riders in the area.

Flexibility and change are NOT the usual character traits I see in my peers. But exceptions are to be found. While caring for tiny babies on Sunday in church, I met a women whose moved to Minnesota from Florida. Who does that? I was intrigued.

Turns out they started in Minnesota and then moved to Florida. They were not golfers so found it hard to connect with new people and a summer there….. well, she referred to it as the two showers a day season. Hot and humid was the norm. Continue reading →

I talked to a senior who is known as “Grandpa Jim”.  He is still working at 72, driving a limo.  It didn’t take long to find out that what he really likes to do… make new connections with people allowing him the opportunity to help others in his own unique way.

He has been spending time at a wilderness camp in the summer for years, and they produce Pure Maple Syrup from the trees on the property in order to help fund the needs of the camp.  Jim decided that he would sell the syrup to help support the camp.  On his SUV it says, “Grandpa Jim’s Pure Maple Syrup” call… 651-633-5910 to order.  There is always has a case of the product in various sizes in Jim’s truck. I noticed that when the children were grown and established in their own lives I began thinking about different kinds of things.  Looking around at my possessions, I began to wonder why I wanted all that stuff?  A new freedom came to me when I realized that I was under no obligation to keep on in the same manner… I had the freedom to make new choices!  I began to dream and think about what I wanted to do with the near future.
